That job description is just how I like to work. Rather than the ineffective funneling of information, I prefer to talk directly with the people having the problems, complaints and concerns. It makes the job that much easier.

Maybe you could freelance for small companies that aren't big enough to hire full time IT...? Not sure how you'd work that into your schedule though, if you want to keep the stability of your current job..
